In this class students will take turns teaching each other about interesting people from history.  Students will choose names from a given category such as composers or early American historical figures and center their class on that specific person.  I will also cover brainstorming, making an outline and basic public speaking skills.  Kids will have some class time to work on preparing their own classes, but parental involvement at home is essential to making sure kids are ready for their days as teacher.  Each child will teach 3 times and parents are asked to be present as their child teaches.  Parents are also invited to join during the 'prep' part of class if they like.  Although the biographical material is targeted towards learners around age 7-10, older students who would like practice teaching are also welcome!  Older students would need to consider their audience when it's time to teach and would be able to help younger students prepare.

Teacher: Kelly Froehlich

Minimum/maximum number of students: 5/12

Age range: 7+

Materials fee: $10.50

Supplies required: spiral notebook and pencils
