Together, we will explore that complicated area between arithmetic and algebra.  Fractions, decimals, percents, prime numbers, exponents, equations, and why we care about any of this will all be fair game, along with assorted other mathematical topics.  Each week, we teachers will have a theme in mind and some problems to work together or separately that explore that theme - but this class is what you make it, too, and any and all questions and problems you bring with you will be welcomed.  If you're in search of a more formal curriculum, some samples of those will be available for use as well.  Pre-algebra is the entry point to some really fascinating stuff, and we look forward to helping you explore it in whatever way is comfortable for you.

Teachers: Newt Sherwin and Sarah Alexander

Minimum/maximum number of students: 4/10

Age range: 9-12+, but anyone who can understand and utilize addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is welcome.

Price: $10

Class prerequisites: Prerequisite knowledge: A thorough understanding of arithmetic through multiplication and division.
