This class will discuss the way in which history played a role in Shakespeare's plays and how it continues to be used in adaptations of his works. Also we will touch on the ways in which Shakespeare's writings have influenced history. We will cover three plays and look at a different aspect of how history is used as a character and how historical context influences storytelling. There will be mature themes as we discuss three plays ( Much Ado, Julius Caesar and Midsummer Night's Dream)so the class would be ideal for the older age group. We will not be discussing any graphic topics in depth. It would ideally be a hands on but primarily discussion based class lead by team teachers. There will need to be group interaction and small amounts of outside work at home. A writing assignment may be a part of the process. There would be a final presentation in front of the class. We are flexible in working to everyone's strengths and comfort levels to get the most out of the experience.
