‘Gaslighting’ was chosen as the Word of 2022 by the Merriam-Webster dictionary after its search volume increased by more than 1,000 percent. So, what, exactly, is gaslighting and how should neurodivergent professionals, who are hit particularly hard by such abusive interactions at work, manage this on the job?

Gaslighting at work can make neurodivergent workers feel responsible for the wrongs being systemically done to them by toxic managers and colleagues. In this webinar, we examine how gaslighting functions, case studies of its use, the impact on neurodivergent employees, and ways to protect against it. You also will learn about six proven strategies grounded in neuroscience that can act as armour for brains enduring this kind of workplace trauma.

2nd Annual VTPalooza (June 12, 2026)

Vernon Township welcomes you to join us at our second annual VTPalooza for a family-friendly night out at William E. Peterson Park! We'll have bounce houses, food vendors, lawn games, discounted swim entry and live music for everyone to enjoy. Also thanks to our partnership with Culver's of Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire, there will be meet-and-greet opportunities with Scoopie, the Culver's mascot.

Additionally, at the Vernon Township information table, we will be running a raffle for a family punch card set (one adult, one child), a free Culver's custard for a year, and a free Butterburger for a year with all funds going to support the Vernon Township Food Pantry. Raffle tickets will be one for $1 and six for $5. We will also be accepting donations of non-perishables (unexpired please!) in exchange for an exclusive sticker!

Family Movie Night in the Park (July 31, 2026)

Come join us at Peterson Park to watch a movie under the stars! At this event you can celebrate the end of summer while watching Disney’s Frozen with friends and family!

The pool will be open for swimming at a discounted rate from 5pm until close and the concession stand will be open late if you need movie snacks such as popcorn, candy, slushies, or ice cream.

The movie itself will start at approximately 8:30 pm and has a runtime of approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.

We will also be holding a raffle to benefit Vernon Township Food Pantry. (Information about raffle ticket prices and prizes coming soon!) Or if you bring (non-expired and unopened) donations of non-perishable food for the Vernon Township Food Pantry, you’ll get a thank you sticker!

We look forward to our community coming together for a little end of summer fun.
